ALSO - Achievement of Lisbon and Gothenburg Strategy Objectives by INTERREG

The contribution of the regional and local institutions to the cohesion policy:
synergies and complementarities between structural funds 2007-2013 and the Lisbon Strategy

In the context of the INTERACT Programme, Marche Region together with a large partnership comprising regional and local authorities, development agencies and universities from all over Europe, has led the ALSO Project, whose final goal was to investigate the contribution that territorial cooperation can offer to the achievement of Lisbon and Gothenburg Strategy Objectives. The objective of the ALSO Final Conference is to present to public and private actors engaged in territorial cooperation the results and tools developed by the project and give an overall view of the opportunities offered by the European Cohesion Policy for enhancing the competitiveness and sustainability of local socio-economic systems. The event will be also a chance for sharing knowledge, best practices and project ideas among subjects engaged in territorial cooperation and local development.

PARALLEL EVENTS

4th October, opening of the Picture Exhibition "Europe based on Innovation and Knowledge": from July 6th to September 12th a photo competition has been opened on the theme of "Europe based on Innovation and Knowledge". 50 photos will be selected and exhibited in October 2007. The exhibition opening will be held on October the 4th in Osimo (Italy) during the ALSO final conference. The two best pictures will be awarded with a special prize by Marche Region. The prize Ceremony will be organized at the Presence of Mrs Emma Bonino, Italian Ministry of European Policies.

4th and 5th October, ALSO tools presentation: an area will be dedicated to present and test, supported by technical assistance, the demo version of the Software and to present the "ALSO Manual for Project Assessment" Manual aimed at offering a model of evaluation of the contribution and impact of Interreg projects to the Lisbon Objectives.

Call for presentations/papers: from June 25th to August the 20th has been launched a call to collect contributions about the Lisbon Strategy and the synergies with the Objective 3. The papers/experiences selected will be presented during the conference.

4th and 5th October, exchange of best practices and project ideas: during the conference free spaces will be available and dedicated to the sharing of draft project proposals and partners search. "Exchange boards" will be organised on the following themes: Transport and Infrastructure policy; Working Europe, creating more and better Jobs; Improving Knowledge and Innovation for Growth and Sustainable Development Strategy for showing project sheets and contact details.
